Madagascar

Country overview

A true wildlife-lover’s paradise, Madagascar is the world’s 4th largest island, situated 400km off the mainland of Africa. It is a land of astonishing landscapes and rich biodiversity; home to 5% of the earth’s species; where an impressive 80% of the country’s flora and fauna is endemic. Culturally it is a fascinating mix, with people of Indonesian, Arabic and African descent, and French colonial influences. Whilst historically Madagascar hasn’t offered the same luxury in terms of tourist accommodation as some of its mainland cousins, this is changing, though the main draw is undoubtedly its exquisite natural wealth and its biodiversity.
